Kevin Drum\u2019s got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/kevin-drum\/2012\/07\/no-obamacare-not-biggest-tax-increase-history\">a table<\/a> of the 15 significant tax increases since 1950, and the Affordable Care  Act, which amounts to a tax increase of 0.49 percent of GDP, comes in  10th. Austin Frakt took Drum\u2019s table and <a href=\"http:\/\/theincidentaleconomist.com\/wordpress\/obamacare-is-the-biggest-tax-increase-in-history-if-you-ignore-history\/\">made a chart<\/a>:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/ezra-klein\/files\/2012\/07\/Obamacare-tax-chart.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2348\" height=\"440\" src=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/ezra-klein\/files\/2012\/07\/Obamacare-tax-chart.jpg\" title=\"Obamacare tax chart\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So  no, the Affordable Care Act isn\u2019t the \u201cbiggest tax hike in history.\u201d  It\u2019s not even the biggest tax hike in the past 60 years.
